Recently Noted – about racism

The New York Times reported today (8/2/2017) that the Trump regime has decided to “redirect resources of the Justice Department’s civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants,….” (see link below for the full article)

NPR and others are noting the “irony” that this action is being undertaken on the 60th birthday of the Civil Rights Division within the Justice Department. The real irony is all this upset over a government agency that has clearly done nothing to end segregation that favors white people all across the US.  Our country is as segregated in education and housing today as it was in the 1960s.

Here is an illustrative chart from the Richard Rothstein’s article, “For Public Schools, Segregation Then, Segregation Since Education and the Unfinished March” (8/27/2013) 1

All of the liberal praise for civil rights has produced no results over these six decades excepting the ritualized celebration of African American History Month. This is so embedded in our calendar that even Trump issued another executive order announcing it.
